ITINERARY 

Day 1Arrive in Cape Town, South Africa

Welcome to South Africa! Arrive late in the evening and check in to your hotel.

Day 2Cape Town

Today, enjoy a sightseeing tour that includes a CABLE-CAR RIDE up Table Mountain (weather permitting). Here you will enjoy stunning views of the city and surrounding area. The afternoon is at your leisure. (Breakfast)

Day 3Cape Town

Enjoy a full day at your leisure. (Breakfast)

Day 4Cape Town–Kruger National Park Area

Today, fly to the KRUGER NATIONAL PARK AREA and check in to your lodge in a private game reserve. The Kruger area is famous for its abundance of wildlife, so you have a great chance to see the “Big 5”—lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo. Other animals you may see include kudu, impala, giraffe, hippo, cheetah, spotted hyena, wildebeest, and more! (Breakfast, Dinner)

Days 5-6Kruger NP Area

Enjoy two full days of game viewing in this wondrous land. Wake up early for a MORNING GAME DRIVE in an open-air 4-wheel drive Land Rover. Your skilled tracker and professional ranger will help you learn more about this special ecosystem as you spot wildlife up close. After breakfast at your lodge, enjoy some free time. Swim in the pool, read a book, or enjoy a drink at the bar. Tea will be served prior to your AFTERNOON GAME DRIVE. As the sun sets, your tracker will bring out a spotlight to help you spot nocturnal animals and, if you are lucky, maybe even a leopard! Return to your lodge in time to freshen up before dinner. Day 7Kruger NP Area–Johannesburg

Enjoy one last GAME DRIVE this morning before flying to Johannesburg. The remainder of the day is at your leisure. (Breakfast)

Day 8Johannesburg

Today’s sightseeing starts with a visit to SOWETO (South Western Township), the largest township in the country. Along the way, see the homes of two Nobel Peace Prize winners: Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. You will also see the Hector Pieterson Memorial, dedicated to the 12-year-old boy killed by police during a demonstration in 1976. Next, visit the unforgettable APARTHEID MUSEUM. Here you will learn about the founding of South Africa before delving into the apartheid years. (Breakfast)

Day 9Johannesburg–Okavango Delta, Botswana

Welcome to Botswana! The OKAVANGO DELTA, the largest inland delta in the world, is one of the last truly untouched areas for wildlife viewing in all of Africa. Surrounded by the dry Kalahari Desert, it attracts a great diversity of animals looking for permanent water. Enjoy a GAME ACTIVITY this afternoon. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 10Okavango

Enjoy MORNING AND AFTERNOON GAME ACTIVITIES. Keep your eyes out for lion, elephant, zebra, hippo, rhino, and many others! The area is also home to the rare African wild dog and over 400 species of birds. During the heat of the day, take advantage of time at leisure. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 11Okavango–Chobe National Park

Today, fly to CHOBE NATIONAL PARK, which features some of the greatest concentrations of wildlife in Africa. Enjoy an AFTERNOON GAME ACTIVITY before settling in for the evening. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 12Chobe

Enjoy MORNING AND AFTERNOON GAME ACTIVITIES in this stunning land. You may see giraffe, lions, lechwe, and huge herds of elephants. It is said that these are the largest elephants in the world. Spend the middle of the day at your leisure. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 13Chobe–Johannesburg–Homebound Flight

Your vacation ends with a flight back to Johannesburg (via Livingstone, Zambia) to connect with your homebound flight. (Breakfast)

Today, drive to SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE, home to a diverse population of animals. Enjoy a GAME DRIVE this afternoon and keep your eyes out for cheetah, Grevy’s zebra, and reticulated giraffe. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 3Samburu

Today, enjoy MORNING AND AFTERNOON GAME DRIVES. You have a great chance to see the mighty Nile crocodile and lions along the Ewaso Ng’iro River. The park is also home to over 300 species of birds, so keep your cameras ready! Between game drives, take advantage of leisure time to relax. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 4Samburu–Lake Nakuru National Park Area

Today, drive to LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK, known for its population of pink flamingos that feed in the alkaline water of the lake. In the afternoon, enjoy a GAME DRIVE where you have your best chance to see the white rhinoceros, which are commonly spotted here. Other animals you may see include waterbuck, giraffe, impala, and striped hyena. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 5Lake Nakuru–Maasai Mara National Reserve Area

Today, drive south to the MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE, Kenya’s most famous game area. The Maasai Mara is part of the Serengeti ecosystem and boasts a strong permanent population of game. During the months of July and August, the great migration of zebra, gazelle, and wildebeest enlarges the population by almost 2 million. This provides a great food source for predators such as lion, cheetah, leopard, and hyena. Enjoy a GAME DRIVE before settling in for the evening. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 6Maasai Mara

Today, enjoy MORNING AND AFTERNOON GAME DRIVES. Keep your eyes out for elephant, rhino, Cape buffalo, gazelle, and many others. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 7Maasai Mara–Nairobi–Amboseli National Park Area

Take a short GAME DRIVE on the way to the airstrip where you will board a plane for the quick flight to Nairobi. After a short break, grab your picnic lunch and drive to AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 8Amboseli

Today features MORNING AND AFTERNOON GAME DRIVES. Be sure to watch for Cape buffalo, zebra, wild dog, and other animals. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 9Amboseli–Nairobi–Homebound Flight

Your vacation ends with a transfer back to Nairobi this morning. We have secured a day room at the Ole Sereni Hotel before a transfer to the airport for your late-evening flight. (Breakfast, Lunch)
